Deogarh (also known as Devgarh) is a little off the beaten track. The Mahal is a restored palace/fort/castle, abandoned in the 1960s, and restored in the mid-1990s (on a budget) by the Rawat (~earl) and his exceptionally dynamic and enterprising wife. Wonderfully idiosyncratic and labyrinthine. The photo below shows only a small section of the compound.
