Em expected that we'd be utterly exhausted after a full day at Fuji-Q, so we had planned a quiet recovery day to follow. Weather intervenes, some plans change, some stay the same. We're still enjoying a quiet morning.
After the park yesterday, Em collected toothbrushes and change of clothes for the boys, and then took all the kids out for pasta. The kids got to play together, and we got a night out. This morning, after seeing her kids off to school etc, she's taken our boys out to Tokyo Dome. I haven't any pics yet, but she reports that "Kids have ridden flume. Hollow ferris wheel, seen fuji, done epic haunted house and are about to ride pirate ship for second time.". In the meantime, JD and I had a leisurely sleep-in, followed by brunch down the street. It's a beautiful day - light breeze, warm (but not burn-y) sun, clear sky - just lovely.
When Em and the kids get back, the four of us will head out to Harajuku. There's a massive Y100 store there, where we'll buy tchotchkes and small gifts for family and friends, and visit Kiddy Land, another massive toy store. Ky is hoping to spot (ideally) Kyary Pamya Pamyu, but any of her acolytes would do fine.
Tomorrow, we'll board a bullet train and head off to Yudanaka, staying at Korakukan, an old, traditional ryokan, and bathing in the rotemburo (outdoor onsen or hot springs), where we may be joined by some snow monkeys. We probably won't have free wifi up there, so I'll likely be offline for a couple of days from tomorrow morning.
Thursday, we're planning to head to Disney Sea (of the two Disney parks in Tokyo, this one is less Mickey Mouse/traditional, more modern), which Em says should also be a very full day.
Friday and Saturday (our last day) are unscheduled at this stage. I don't think we'll make it to Studio Ghibli unfortunately (again, we'll just have to come back another time), but we will review our other possibilities. Is there anything you think we should fit into those last two days? Put it in the comments - I'd love to get your input.
I'll compose a few collections of things I've spied, which I'll add to over the next week, and set up to publish while we're travelling back. Just observations, things that are done differently, or that I find amusing or quirky.
